Will Rogers Downs Selections May 12th

Will Rogers Downs Race 1: Gold Note is 0-16 but made a promising track debut last month when third at this level. Crowned Leader has had one run more and only been placed twice but I’m A Star has only had three runs and finished third in his last two so should have enough scope to make his presence felt. JOHNNY LONGBOAT has raced in far better company and takes in a claimer for the first time. He’s yet to reach a place but this represents a big drop in class and he can get off the mark.
SELECTIONS: 9-4-8-6

Will Rogers Downs Race 2: Fred’s Country Boy is chasing a four-timer and doesn’t look to have much more to do in the moderate claimer. I’m An Eight gained the fourth victory of his career at Turf Paradise in March while L A TOWER is 8-33 with all victories coming on Dirt. A winner at Zia Park in December, where he had Dynabeaver back in third, he was having his first start on this track when a very good third last month and looks the one to beat. SELECTIONS: 7-6-1

Will Rogers Downs Race 3: This will be a real dash for the line and Frontier Woman, a winner at Oaklawn last month and a good third there last time, may be cut off on the inside. SASSY SETA usually blasts out and attempts to make all. She was caught close home at Oaklawn last time and can go one better. Joy In The Journey, a winner at Oaklawn in February, bounced back with a very good run in stronger company last time while Quiet Spring has been in much better form since dropping into this grade recently.
SELECTIONS: 2-1-3-8

Will Rogers Downs Race 4: Plenty Of Munny ran well in similar grade here last time and will make a bold bid to go one better. Lil’ Shopper makes her debut on the track having raced mainly in similar company at Oakland, reaching the frame just once in eight starts. Trainer Scott Young has a tremendous record with his runners here this year and though PUSSYCAT PUSSYCAT only showed moderate speed on her debut here last month the experience will have done her the world of good and she can take this. Lynne T ran her best race to date at Oakland last month and wouldn’t need much more to get into contention. SELECTIONS: 3-2-1-7

Will Rogers Downs Race 5: Hollywood Square has produced two second places since arriving here, both in this very lowly grade, and shows very good early pace. Hickory Hill has managed to win nine times and this is his level though he hasn’t shown much in his two starts on this track. Five-times winner Ceeky has been getting too far behind and makes his debut on the track as does Point Guard, a winner at a similar level at Turf Paradise in December. U S SPECIAL FORCES couldn’t peg back the winner on his track debut in March but looks to have a fair chance to go one better. SELECTIONS: 10-1-2-4

Will Rogers Downs Race 6: This is for horses who haven’t won four times or haven’t scored since November and ANCONA could be inegilible for such a race after today. She began her winning run in a much better race at Turf Paradise before completing her hat-trick in fine style on this track. Diamond Legacy finished behind Checkerboard and Right On By here last month but did much better when runner-up a week later and should make her presence felt. Sexy Dance hasn’t been in the best of form but drops a grade on her debut on the track and shouldn’t be dismissed. SELECTIONS: 10-9-2-1

Will Rogers Downs Race 7: Gospel Lucille ran really well in both starts in better company at Remington Park and may just have needed the run on her debut here in March. Ragan’s Jet made a promising start in similar company here last month while OKIE LOGIC showed tremendous pace here last month before being passed by the winner. The latter can go one better as none of the newcomers make particular appeal. SELECTIONS: 11-4-8

Will Rogers Downs Race 8: In The Deep won an Oakland maiden in March but hasn’t shown much in two subsequent starts. WHISKEY FACTOR, from a top trainer/jockey combination, dropped into this company for the first time last month and stayed on strongly after taking the lead before the stretch. He can go in again though Shell Fire generally performs in better grade and made a fair track debut when third last month so looks the main threat. Swashbuckler landed a similar race here in March but ran poorly on a return visit a month later. SELECTIONS: 5-6-7-9

Will Rogers Downs Race 9: Sandy Sangria has been here twice and won both and is perfectly capable of going in again in this company. Shallow River completed a double before a fair run in this sort of class on her hat-trick attempt. Love To Learn goes for a three-timer after victories at a slightly lower grade but SWEET CAROLINA (NAP) looks the one to beat on her track debut. A winner at Belmont way back in 2018, she was having only her second subsequent start when runner-up at Sunland Park in March and could prove a bit better than these. Always In The Munny looks a big threat after a fine run in a better race last time though has the widest draw to overcome.
SELECTIONS: 6-4-2-5

Will Rogers Downs Race 10: CROSSING DIXIE had A Guy Like Me in third when runner-up in similar company last month and should confirm the form. Rubber Bandman, who had won here in March, never got into contention that day but is expected to do better. Euroeast and No Lak Of Memories were also behind and look held but Shawn Again finally got off the mark last month on his 18th start. SELECTIONS: 7-2-8-9
