The Kansas Jayhawks will play the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers who have been one of the best in College Football in recent years. After losing all nine games last season, it looks like the Jayhawks are off to the right start after winning their first game of the season 17-14 while the Chanticleers won their opening game of the season 52-14 and look to pick up this season where they left off after going unbeaten in the regular season last year. Both schools look improved and ready to give us a great game to kick off the week.

After a season where the Jayhawks went 0-9, resulting in head coach Les Miles’ being fired, Kansas looks to be off to a strong start with a win against South Dakota State 17-14, giving new coach, Lance Leipold a lot to be excited about. Unfortunately, the offense continues to struggle as they only scored 17 points in the game and scored only 15.8 points per game last season. The hope is that Jared Bean can continue to play well under center as he had 156 passing yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 54 yards but the rest of the unit needs to step up. Bean will look for running back Velton Garner to split carries while also looking for receivers Mason Fairchild and Trevor Wilson to be open downfield.

The offense continues to struggle but the defense looks to lead the Jayhawks this season with the unit only allowing 14 points in the opening game after allowing 46 per game last season. The unit is led by Senior edge defender Kyron Johnson who recorded seven tackles and a sack in the opening game but also by Junior defensive back Kenny Logan Jr. who had seven tackles and broke up a pass in the game as well.

The Chanticleers continue to look like one of the most exciting programs in College Football, winning 13 consecutive regular-season games and looking poised to win the Sun Belt Conference once again. The offense continues to carry the program after scoring 37.2 points per game last season and putting up 52 in their season opener. The Chanticleers are led by quarterback Grayson McCall, who had 262 passing yards and a passing touchdown in the first game but also has plenty of skill players with Senior running back Shamari Jones adding 100 rushing yards and two touchdowns and receiver Jaivon Heiligh adding 133 yards and a touchdown as well giving the offense plenty of options to beat their opponents.

Look for Kansas defense to hold down Coastal Carolina just enough to get the cover.  KANSAS +27
