COLLEGE BASKETBALL NATIONAL TITLE ODDS
Not much movement among title favorites this week as a lot of the leaders faced an easy week. Things should pick up over the next several weeks with conference play heating up.
Here is the outlook for some of the top teams in college basketball along with their National Title odds.
Houston : Solid road win at Tulane for the Cougars. Houston’s schedule remains relatively easy for the foreseeable future outside of a road game at UCF in a few weeks.
Kansas : Losing to in-state rival Kansas State on the road in overtime did little to hurt the Jayhawks’ stock. Things continue to pick up quickly for the Jayhawks with TCU, Baylor and Kentucky all coming up.
Alabama : The Crimson Tide continue to stockpile double-digit wins as the leaders of the SEC. Brandon Miller is starting to earn Player of the Year buzz. Alabama’s schedule eases up until mid-February.
UCLA : The Bruins continue to cruise as they remain unbeaten in Pac-12 play. The next 10 days present some major tests. UCLA gets the Arizona schools and USC all on the road to close out January.
Purdue : Surviving with a road win over Michigan State, center Zach Edey provided a signature moment with a critical late bucket in the one-point win. Edey’s unique presence continues to make Purdue a unique factor.
Tennessee : Losing to Kentucky at home was not a great look for the Vols but a solid bounceback win at Mississippi State helps. Tennessee continues to search for consistent offense against the best teams.
Arizona : The Wildcats have fallen in markets everywhere thanks to a sluggish 4-3 start in Pac-12 play. A blowout road loss at Oregon looked particularly bad. Important week ahead for Arizona with the LA schools coming to town.
UConn : UConn needs to figure things out quickly after losing four of its last five games in Big East play. Questionable guard play needs to improve if the Huskies are to get back in the main title picture.
Gonzaga : Even with the scheduling gods doing the Bulldogs zero favors to open conference play, Gonzaga delivered road wins over San Francisco, Santa Clara and BYU to maintain the league lead.
Texas : Showing resilience with close wins over TCU and Texas Tech, the Longhorns dropped one at Iowa State immediately after. Four of the next six games come on the road for Texas during a critical stretch.
