The Red Sox have the best record in the majors with 107 wins. They have won more games than any team in the 118-year history of Boston’s American League franchise. Houston’s pitching staff has been great all season. The Astros lead the majors with 1,677 strikeouts with one game remaining. They’ve already smashed the single-season record of 1,614 strikeouts set by the Indians last season. How far will Houston’s arms take the Astros is anyone’s guess. Take a look at the Betting Favorites, Contenders and Longshots to Win the World Series.

World Series Betting Favorites

Boston Red Sox +295

The Red Sox have the best record in the majors with 107 wins. They have won more games than any team in the 118-year history of Boston’s American League franchise.

So are the Red Sox a smart 2018 World Series bet?

Not so fast…Boston is 17-21 against the Indians, Astros, A’s, and Yankees, all fellow AL teams. The Sox do not have a winning record against any of them.

Houston Astros +325

Houston’s pitching staff has been great all season. The Astros lead the majors with 1,677 strikeouts with one game remaining. They’ve already smashed the single-season record of 1,614 strikeouts set by the Indians last season. How far will Houston’s arms take the Astros is anyone’s guess.

Aces Gerrit Cole and Justin Verlander are the first pair of teammates to each record 250 or more strikeouts in a season since 2002.

World Series Contenders

Cleveland Indians +850

Cleveland leads a soft Central Division and by July 4th the Tribe’s playoff ticket was a foregone conclusion. Ace Corey Kluber won 20 games. Edwin Encarnacion drove in 100 runs. The front office also added former AL MVP Josh Donaldson.

Los Angeles Dodgers +900

A lousy 16-26 start plus injuries to some of their biggest stars, including a pair of disabled list stints for ace pitcher Clayton Kershaw, forced the Dodgers to take the scenic route to the postseason.

New York Yankees +975

New York was counting on the big bats Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge to get the Yankees to the World Series. However, it may be a pair of late-season additions that give the Bronx an October to remember.

Lefty J.A. Happ and right-handed hitting minor league first baseman Luke Voit have brought depth and excitement to the lineup. In his first 10 starts in pinstripes, Happ went 6-0 with a 2.34 ERA. And since the start of September, Voit has seven home runs in 18 games, tied for fourth in baseball this month.

Chicago Cubs +1000

The Cubs are wildly inconsistent on offense. Chicago racked up 8+ runs in 34 showings this season. That is tops in the NL and fourth in the MLB. The Cubs also were unable to score more than one run a whopping 35 times in 2018, tied for the most in the ML and second in the majors.

World Series Longshots

  • Colorado Rockies +1075
  • Atlanta Braves +1250
  • Milwaukee Brewers +1350
  • Oakland Athletics +1750
