New York Yankees vs Baltimore Orioles

The Orioles will welcome the Yankees to Oriole Park as both teams will go head to head in a four-game series. The Orioles are in the last place of the AL East division while the Yankees are in 2nd. This will be their 2nd meeting of the season with the O’s taking the first series meet 3-1.

New York Yankees’s Latest Performance :

The Yankees will begin their 11 game road trip against the O’s, they are 13-8 when playing on the road this season. The Yankees will be coming off a hard-fought series against the Astros. The Yankees still remain the best batting team in the Major, no one can really come close to their batting this season, they have multiple players that can hit multiple homers per game. With the Yankees offense will they be able to have a deep run into the postseason, they showed in the Astros series that they can handle pressured situation pulling out a win in the extra innings over the Astros. The Yankees came up with clutch shots after clutch shots as they overcame a 5 error night, great teams often find ways to win games.

Aaron Judge slugged a solo homer and reached base three times. He took Charlie Morton out the opposite way in the fifth inning for his 15th home run of the season. He also doubled in the ninth inning and represented the winning run at third base with two outs, but Gary Sanchez struck out. The Yankees won it an inning later in the 10th. He has gone deep four times over his last eight games.

Brett Gardner played hero ball in the Yankees’ comeback win over the Astros Tuesday, hitting a solo home run and a game-tying, two-run shot in the ninth inning.  He also added a pair of singles for his first four-hit game of the season. He is slashing .256/.363/.378 with 4 homers and 18 RBIs this season. He always seems to show up in big games for the Yankees. The batters should have an easy series playing against the O’s this time around.

Pitching for the Yankees will be Masahiro Tanaka. He limited the Angels to three hits and one run over six dominant innings Sunday in the Yankees’ 3-1 victory. He finished with eight strikeouts and three walks over 104 pitches.

Baltimore Orioles’s Latest Performance :

The O’s are on the verge of yet another series sweep this season. The task does not get easier for them at all as they will have to go back home to face off against the Yankees in a four-game series. The O’s are last the in the AL East division with a home record of 10-15. Coming into this series the O’s are ranked 26th in batting with only 209 runs scored this season. The team only relies on Machado to provide them with the offense one player can do so much for the team but they can’t bring the team over to the top it will take a collective effort for that to happen. The O’s are ranked 29th in pitching with an ERA of 5.04.

Manny Machado launched a solo home run and added a single, he finished the game going 2 for 4 and has hit safely in 43 of the 55 games he played this season he is slashing .326/.394/.614 this season with 16 homers. He’s tied for fourth in the American League, I really hope the O’s will allow him to go play elsewhere this season he is too good to be playing on a bad team. He will get to showcase his talent against a great team like the Yankees, I expect him to do well.

Pitching for the O’s is Kevin Gausman. The righty turned in his worst start of the season on Sunday against the Rays, going a season-low 2 2/3 innings and allowing a season-high seven runs. Still, Gausman has been one of the Orioles’ most consistent arms this season. Things won’t get better for Gausman he has the Yankees next.

My reason for the pick :

The New York Yankees will be able to beat out the O’s on the road and set the tone for the whole series, the Yankees are trying to avoid what happened to them at the beginning of April where they lost the series opener and end up losing to the O’s. This time around the Yankees team is a much better batting team they have much more chemistry on the field compared to when the teams were first matched up. I expect the Yankees to win an easy game on the road, the Yankees will carry over the level of play from the Astros series on to this one.
