Kentucky Derby winner Country House will not run in the Preakness on May 18 at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, the Daily Racing Form reported Tuesday. Country House trainer Bill Mott told Jay Privman of the Daily Racing Form that the Derby winner is coughing and “acting like he’s going to get sick.”

The last Kentucky Derby winner to skip the Preakness was Grindstone, who was retired five days after winning the 1996 Derby because of a knee injury.

The Daily Racing Form also reported Tuesday that Code of Honor, runner-up in the Kentucky Derby, will not run in the Preakness.
