Let’s start with the good news for the G-Men from last week’s opener vs. the Broncos–Saquon Barkley was back in action. (Only 10 carries for 26 YR, but at least he’s back!) The bad news? About everything else, as all of the concerns from the offseason came bubbling to the surface in the 27-13 loss, including 3rd-year QB Daniel Jones not yet beyond grievous errors and the D lacking an edge rusher to help get it off of the field as New York lost its fifth straight opener, and now threatens a familiar 0-2 for the fifth straight year as well.
Daniel Jones has a league leading 40 Turnovers! Not good for a playcaller of the team. Amid all of this recent sludge, however, the G-Men have continued to offer surprising (shocking?) value as a road dog, covering 6 of their last 7 chances a year ago and now 10-2 their last 12 in that role.
They also beat eventual NFC East winner Washington twice last season, and Ron Rivera is already to Plan B at QB as Ryan Fitzpatrick was KO’d last week with a hip injury in the loss to the Chargers, and subsequently to the IL, with last January’s emergency playoff starter Taylor Heinicke the next man up. Which we actually like alot much more than Fitz!
Not much line value here as the line has dropped from the -5 opener to 3 (-115).
