There’s an eight-race card in Florida this evening beginning with Young American in the opener. The six-year-old is a pretty reliable yardstick for this kind of level, winning 7 times and placing on a further 20 occasions from 53 outings, and he’s been in solid form in four starts so far this year here – finishing no worse than fourth on each occasion. He hinted that his turn was near when third over course and distance 12 days ago, just running out of steam late on, and this looks a good opportunity for him to return to winning ways from a good draw.
Meanwhile, Wish Upon can strike in race three (19:00). The six-year-old got up in the dying strides to win at this level over course and distance in February, and she held her own in Grade 2 company over a furlong further last time out, being beaten just five lengths. Returned to much calmer waters here, she can continue her good recent run of form by taking this.
Last but no least, Premier Justice can go well in race six (20:30). This is a lowly seven-furlong claimer, and although Premier Justice struggled on her most recent start here, that came over five and a half furlongs in difficult conditions. The step up in trip should therefore suit – particularly when you consider she won over half a furlong shorter than this here in December – and provided she can run to form here, she ought to be on the premises on fast going.
